We’re so excited about the release of Gravity Falls: Lost Legends (available July 24th!), and we thought you might want to take a sneak peek at the making of the new Graphic Novel. Read on as Alex Hirsch shares how it all comes together.
How was the experience of working with so many talented artists on this Graphic Novel?
I can’t believe how lucky I was to work with seasoned pros and hungry newcomers who all brought something amazing to the table. Getting to work with Eisner Award-winner Asaf Hanuka in particular was a dream come true. Still not sure how I tricked him into being involved.
Were any of these four stories from the cutting room floor of the show and if so, what was it like giving the story new life?
We tried many times to include a “face-stealer” on Gravity Falls, but could never quite crack a storyline that justified that horrifying visual. But now, thanks to the magic of the graphic novel, you will finally get to see beloved Gravity Falls characters get their faces stolen by an ungodly monster! Lucky you!
Are there any new characters that you were excited to share with fans?
Fans will be thrilled to meet “Mipler,” the secret lost Pines Triplet, who owns a time-traveling dune-buggy and who is in a romantic relationship with every character on the show. I guarantee this character is real. Would I lie to you?
Where does the inspiration for new settings and monsters come from?
Insomnia.
