What could be better than finding out one of your favorite books is being adapted for streaming? Variety broke the news that Netflix is adapting the YA series, The Selection, where 35 girls audition for a reality show to compete for the heart of Prince Maxon. The five book fantasy series, inspired by The Bachelor, takes on rebel attacks and the caste system, while featuring glittering jewels and gorgeous gowns. The heroine, America Singer, must decide between the comfort of her past and the potential of her future-- what can her life actually be? America questions the misogyny that created this competition, and works to rebuild the system to one of agency and consent. We'll definitely be rereading the series in anticipation for the film.
