An Ancient Witch's Guide to Modern Dating by Cecilia Edward

“This book is a cozy rom-com with a twist that our female lead is a witch from the seventeenth century now stuck in the twenty first century after a spell goes wrong. I believe this book is the perfect curl up by the fire or on the couch kind of read. It also is a journey of self-love as well and where most romance books are just about the love between two people, I think it is important to also have a book that shows the struggles of learning to love yourself before fully loving another person as well.”

Darrell—Bookseller, Nashville, TN

Confronting Evil by Bill O’Reilly and Josh Hammer

“This is the latest edition to the author's series of "Killing" or "Confronting" books and it is perhaps the most chilling one of all.  Within the twelve chapters, you will find some familiar names and others not so well known in modern times. Regardless of whether you immediately recognize the names, you will be captivated, (and often frightened!), at the information contained in these pages.  Most of what you will read is unbelievable to say the least and will leave you with a new perspective on the evil that has existed in history. Even more concerning, however, is the horror that is still occurring in the world. This is absolutely a must read Don't miss it!”

Elysa—Bookseller, Dubuque, IA

Fall I Want by Lyra Parish

“I do not normally read fall books, I bought this book when it was released, and I read it in a matter of 3 days. This book was delicious! A fast paced, cozy fall romance with magical elements. Not only was it well written, but the characters were formed perfectly. The balance between spice and plot was exceptional! I cannot recommend enough! Read it quickly.”

Kaguarabachi, Vol. 1 by Takeru Hokazono

“A blades-and-sorcery manga with an immediately gripping story and beautiful visuals. Soon to be an anime produced by Cygames Pictures (Umamusume, Granblue Fantasy), the story follows young adult Rokuhira Chihiro as he seeks vengeance for the death of his father, swordsmith of seven enchanted blades. Packed with high-speed action and engaging drama, this will be a staple of the Shonen genre for the ages!”

Jennifer—Bookseller, Somerset, KY

Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely

“I'm recommending this book firstly because it is one of the single most beautiful books I have ever read, both for its story and physically for its art. Who doesn't love a good vengeance story that grapples with themes of loss and justice while the characters embark on a personal growth journey as well? This story left me with a feeling of hope and a more positive outlook on the world after reading it; the characters repeatedly deal with the cruelty and apathy of the universe and continue to go through each day trying to do the best that they can. That is something I think everyone needs a little bit of right now, so I highly recommend that you pick this up and give it a read.”

Megan—Bookseller, Oak Ridge, TN

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

“This book may be a kids fiction, but it dives deep into deep topics that keeps any age entertained. This has been my top favorite book since even before I was ten. The story is easy to follow as well as being beautifully written. The whole series is a MUST READ if you like a thrilling story with a deep background, no matter your age.”

Rose—Bookseller, Rocky Mount, NC

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

“This book was so good! The Bewitching is a romp of a tale strung between three women in 1908, 1935 & 1998, respectively. It highlights how witchery haunts us through time as these three try to solve the disappearances around them and stay sane. Both fresh and a call-back to classic gothic horror, The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a book I'll be re-reading again and again.”

Hollie—Bookseller, Gainesville, FL

The Hounding by Xenobe Purvis

“The perfect autumn read. The Hounding explores a family of unconventional sisters in a time of strict societal convention. Their story is told through supporting characters as a dangerous rumor about the girls turning into dogs ignites and rips through their small town. Some of the narrators sympathize with the sisters, while others would rejoice in seeing them brought down, perhaps, simply for the crime of daring to be unconventional.”

Ciara—Bookseller, Hanover, PA

The Nightblood Prince by Molly X. Chang

“This book is absolutely amazing.  It's really difficult to put down and the storyline flows so well, it makes me want to keep reading more. If you like stories about Asian dynasties, fate and prophecies, strong and independent female main characters, action, war, and a little bit of romance, this is the book for you! This story has themes of politics, romance, war, vampires, enemies to lovers, self-discovery, and the main character is a girl who wants to defy her fate and prophecy for the better of the continent at the expense of everything. What happens when she has to choose between two different princes, one from an enemy nation (who happens to have a secret and saved her life) or her betrothed who she grew up with and was destined to be the empress of all empresses, at the expense of herself and her prophecy?! It is heart wrenching, inspiring, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and overall, a really really good read. I will definitely be checking out her other books once I finish this one!”

Addison—Bookseller, Waldorf, MD

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston LeRoux

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux is a haunting and beautifully written gothic novel that blends romance, mystery, and suspense. Set in the grand Paris Opera House, the story follows the mysterious Phantom who haunts the theater and becomes obsessed with a young soprano, Christine Daaé. With rich atmosphere, dramatic tension, and unforgettable characters, this classic tale explores themes of love, obsession, and the pain of isolation. A must-read for fans of dark romance and timeless mystery.”
