Bill O’Reilly’s Legends & Lies: Patriots

Fans of Bill O’Reilly’s Legends & Lies: The Real West on Fox News Channel as well as the companion book of the same name, will take delight in the second installment of the successful series. Legends & Lies: The Patriots premieres Sunday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox News and will run for 12 weeks. While the first season focused on prominent figures and tales of the Old West, The Patriots will focus — as the name rather clearly implies — on the figures and events of the American Revolution. Taking its cue from The Real West, the second season will also heavily feature narrated reenactments interspersed among expert interviews and soundbites, with Bill O’Reilly returning as executive producer. Historic events that are covered include the Boston Massacre and George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River.

If you’re not up for waiting until next Sunday to get in on the stories, don’t despair. The official second season companion book, Legends & Lies: The Patriots was released Tuesday by Henry Holt & Company; historian David Fischer returns as author. Many — if not all — of the same stories are featured in the book.

Anyone who enjoyed David McCullough’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1776 or Ray Raphael’s Founding Myths are sure to find the stories in Bill O’Reilly’s Legends & Lies: The Patriots fascinating and perhaps even surprising. Perhaps one of the most redeeming qualities of the book is the presence of countless beautiful illustrations and artwork printed onto the quality pages of the binding.

You won’t want to miss Legends & Lies: The Patriots on Fox News Channel next Sunday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET; be sure to check out the trailer for it below. For the best experience as you’re watching the show, you may want to read up on the stories before each episode, giving you context as it plays out on your TV screen.
